Turkey Day In The Big Apple

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope all of you had a great day. :) This morning my family and I went to a little market a couple blocks away from our hotel for breakfast. I had an everything bagel with butter, and even though it was so simple is was soo good. The bagels here are seriously heaven on Earth. We then went to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, but we didn't stay long because it began to snow. I didn't enjoy the parade much, but I thought it was cool to be there because growing up I would always wake up to watch it while cooking with my mom so to see it in person was special. After the parade, we took a subway to Canal Street for some shopping. I bought a black leather backpack that I absolutely adore, and my mom bought some Christmas presents for our extended family. After shopping for a couple of hours we headed into Soho again to go to a french bistro called Balthazar. The restaurant was so cute, and delicious! The croissants were phenomenal, just like the ones in France! After eating we went back to the hotel to get freshened up, and then we headed towards Central Park to take a carriage ride. After the ride we walked to Serendipity for dinner, but once we got there it was closed. We then walked up and down streets trying to find food until we got to Rockefeller Center. We picked up some desserts from a cute bakery there, and also hotdogs and pretzels to eat. Then, at 8:30 we went to Radio City Music Hall to see the Rockette's Christmas Show! The show was great, and it really put me more into the holiday spirit (If that's possible?). I am now relaxing in the hotel room getting ready for bed so I am ready for our big day planned tomorrow. I will be putting pictures up on my photography page of my adventures today so check it out. :) Once again Happy Thanksgiving and have a great rest of your break!! :)

A Day In Soho

Today was day two in the best place in the world. To start off my morning we walked to a cute café called Café Bene. Its theme was so typical New York- library, a perfect place to study, and to be creative. There I ordered a caramel latte and a banana whipped cream waffle, it was delicious! After breakfast we walked around Times Square for a little bit taking pictures, but not for long since it was raining. We then took the subway to Soho to stay there for the afternoon. While in Soho I took sooo many pictures, everything that I see here catches my eye, and I think it is all so beautiful so I try to take a picture of everything that I like. One thing that I really loved was the wall art, I think it shows so much about the city’s people who are bursting with creativity, and it just gives it something special. I also took a lot of pictures of the buildings, I love the old style look and it looks great in pictures. As well as taking pictures, I also shopped around with my sister and mom. Shopping in New York is definitely something special, especially around the holidays. We then went out to lunch in Little Italy. We ordered a pizza from Lombardi’s, America’s first pizzeria! My family and I shared a margarita pizza with half of it having sausage on it. It was so good. For dessert, since we had heard that Ferraras is very good we had to go. We got an assortment of their desserts, but the best was the chocolate covered cannoli! If you ever come to the city, you have to go there! Below are some pictures that I took today, but if you want to see more go to my photography page also. I will try my best to post something tomorrow, but if I don’t happy Thanksgiving!! I hope everyone has a good break!

Fashion Finds

Okay, so as many of you may know that on Tuesday I am going to NYC!! I am so beyond excited I can't stand it!! Since it is obviously colder there than it is here, I have been shopping for things to keep me warm while I'm there, and I would like to share my new fashion finds with you. I have been following the weather in NY, and it has been varying between the 30’s to the 50’s. Last week I went shopping with my sister, and since we both didn't have a lot of money, we went to less expensive stores looking for good deals. I find my inspiration on clothes and trends by photos on Instagram, Tumblr, and Pinterest so I was looking for clothes similar to some that I've seen other people wearing. We first went to Abercrombie (which definitely is NOT cheap. sigh) and I found the cutest jeans ever. I absolutely fell in love with them, but I didn't have enough money so I couldn't get them. :( We then went over to Urban Outfitters (which once again isn't cheap, but I'm in love with their clothes so I had to go to look at the sale section). I found the cutest tops and jeans, but I didn't know if I would wear them all the time so I decided not to buy them, I may have to go back though. After that we headed to Forever 21 because sometimes they actually have pretty cute things for a good price. We probably spent an hour in there raiding the racks of clothes looking for the decent pieces out of the tons of clothes they have there, and I left with boyfriend jeans, a black sweater, and navy blue knee high socks. I have been looking for the perfect pair of inexpensive boyfriend jeans for the longest time, but every time I found a pair I loved they were $80 or more, but these ones were only $27! I think that they are so cute, and I will definitely will be wearing them with everything I can. The black sweater that I found I also love because it has a different feel to it. It is very soft and comfortable, but it looks like something out of Clueless or Sex and The City, which I absolutely adore. The 80s fashion I think is so cute, I just have no idea where to shop to buy clothes like that, and I don't really think I can pull it off, but whatever. Then the socks are just plain, but I am obsessed with navy blue, and they match one of my scarves perfectly, so I just had to buy them. But, three things obviously isn't enough to get me through my five days in the Big Apple, so I am hoping that this weekend I can go shopping again, and maybe thrifting to get some new clothes! One of my favorite used clothing clothing stores is Buffalo Exchange. It has previously owned, usually designer or top brand, clothes for cheap! The last time I went, I bought a pair of Jeffery Campbells for only $35! The store is kind of a mess, but if you look long and hard enough you will definitely get some cute finds, if there's one near you I definitely recommend you to go! There are also some great thriftshops in the Valley or LA around me, so you should go there too if you're into that sort of thing! Right now, Top Shop also has adorable clothes so if you have the money and time to go shopping, go! There are such great jackets, sweaters, jeans (amazing high-waisted jeans), and really anything you could imagine. Their shoes and accessories are really cute too!
Here's one outfit that I am thinking of taking with me, the sweater is the one I bought at Forever 21, and everything else is either from Urban Outfitters or Nordstroms. :)

I will update you guys on what I buy and wear this next week in New York, but also throughout the winter. I hope you are enjoying reading this as much as I am enjoying writing these pieces. :)

Give a Smile :)

Hey guys. I have been trying to upload a blog a soon as possible, but I've literally have had no time. Between school, lacrosse, and hanging out with my friends, my past week has been a whirlwind. I've decided that each week I am going to upload an advice piece, a piece about something going on with my life, recipes, fashion, etc. I kind of just want to make this a blog about me, and anything that I am interested in. So today I am going to write about being kind towards other people and staying happy because I just read something about someone I have known for awhile, and it really put things into perspective for me.

Some people may come off as the happiest people around, always smiling and laughing, always seeming as if they love life, but really they are in pain. No matter what kind, physical or emotional, pain is pain, and it can hurt people is unimaginable ways. I wish we lived in a world with no judgement, and no hurt, where everyone could be themselves, happy, and they would be accepted. But no, sadly that is not the case. We live in a world where people do unimaginable things to others because they don't agree with them, or because they believe that they are doing something wrong. I kind of just wanted to bring attention to the fact that you don't always know what is going on in someone's personal life, and that no matter what you should always be kind to people. You should always give someone a smile, tell them you love them, tell them how much they mean to you because you never know what is going on in their life. Especially with the holiday season coming up, it's a time for everyone to be happy, everyone should always be happy but we always have our days. Try feeding the homeless, giving to charities that help people in need, do something that will benefit people other than you. Last Thanksgiving I went down to skid row to feed the homeless people who lived in a shelter, and it really showed me how blessed I am, and how thankful I really should be. I think some people take things for granted when they shouldn't. But what I wanted to try to get across is that you should always try to help the people around you, holding back the unnecessary mean comments. Listen to people as they talk to you, and really just be there for people. As for yourself, do things that please you. Forget about what other people will think, if you enjoy it then go for it. I think that if you surround yourself with good people, and things that bring you joy that you can be truly happy. But, if you ever do feel down talk to someone, a parent, a friend, a sibling, anyone that you know will not judge you and will help you if you ever need anything. If you ever feel unloved or unwanted just know that someone out there loves you more than you could ever imagine. Try to give five people tomorrow a smile, because that might be the one thing making their day better.

Until next time,
Hannah xx

Friend Advice

As a girl you have to go through many things that boys don't understand, one being girl drama. I have had to deal with this petty drama since fourth grade, and I realized that if it is always with the same person or people that they may not actually be your friend. If you always have this problem you should probably step back and look at the friendship. First question you should ask yourself is, who is this person to you, and are they really that important to you that you are crying because of something they said or did? If your answer is no then you should probably just forget about it and move on. If they don't mean that much to you, then you shouldn't care about what they think about you or say to you. But, if this person means something to you then you should look at the situation as a whole and see what they did to you to make you feel like this. Did they do something that you feel is unforgivable and you want to know why they did it or did they just say something to you that hurt your feelings? Think about what you want to say to them and talk about with them before saying anything that you will regret in the long run. After you have thought about those things, you should decide how you want to talk to them.  I advise you to talk to them in person so you know that they are really listening to how you feel instead of just looking at a message that you sent them, and ignoring your feelings. But, some people don't like to talk to people in person, so if you're like me, you can try calling them. I think that calling or meeting up in person to talk are way better than texting, but really it's up to you and how you want to deal with the situation. After you talk to them you can then decide how you want to continue the relationship, do you want to go back to how it was before? Do you just want to be cordial and friendly, but not close again? Once you figure everything out hopefully you will once again be happy. The past couple of weeks I have had problems with my friends, but now I have talked everything out with them. Once again, we are back to how we were before, but with a better understanding of each other and why we acted that way.

I hope this helps, and if you ever need to talk to anyone you can always talk to me! :)

Until tomorrow,
Hannah

This Season's Fashion

My favorite time of the year is definitely fall and winter. For me, from the month October to about January, I think is the best. I feel like everyone around me and everything in general has a positive, happy vibe, and it gives me a warm satisfying feeling inside. I love the colors that are in, like red, orange, yellow, green, the air, the trees, just everything about this time of the year makes me so happy. One thing about the fall that I love is the fashion. Since I live in California, and it doesn't get very cold, I am able to wear jeans and a t-shirt or sweater, or I am able to wear a dress or skirt with a sweater, and can dress either to the fall weather. Every girl has to have some staple pieces for the colder weather, and this year mine are definitely my purses, shoes, scarves, and a few of my jackets. Today while going through my closet, I found two purses that I absolutely adore! One is brown and is from Urban Outfitters. It is more slouchy than stiff, and I wear it as a longer purse on my shoulder instead of holding it in my hand. The other purse that I absolutely love is black with studs and fringe. I have no idea where I bought it, but you can probably buy one similar to it at Urban Outfitters. It can be worn as a shoulder purse or it can be held, but I will probably wear it on my shoulder. My go to boots this season are my matte black Dr. Martens, I bought them last year, but I still love them as much this year as I did last, and I will probably wear them throughout the rest of the year. But as for the rest of my shoes, I am really into slip-on vans, and short work boots. Some of my other staple pieces are my scarves. I think in the past two weeks I have gone out, and have bought three new scarves, I'm just a little obsessed. I bought a tope, all fur circle scarf from Nordstroms, and I am absolutely in love! I haven't gotten a chance to wear it yet because it has been in the 80s the past couple of weeks, and it is kind of hard to put an outfit together with, but I will find the perfect thing to pair it with. I also got two scarves from Target yesterday. I usually don't shop there, but these scarves were just too soft, and cute to pass on. They are knitted infinity scarves, and I got a cream one and a navy one. I know I will wear these quite a lot the in the next couple of months. The last of my staple items are my jackets. Lately, I have been leaning towards sweatshirts because I get too lazy to actually get ready in the morning before school, but when I do put myself together, I throw on my black leather jacket that I bought at Nordstroms or my army green jacket from PacSun. I think by adding a nicer jacket to any outfit makes it ten times cuter, and fancier. I love these jackets, and will definitely wear them this season. But, I am also on the hunt for a cute plaid jacket, a cute army green or navy blue field jacket, and a faux fur coat. For the next couple of months, especially when I am in NYC, I am going to dress as cute as I possibly can and take advantage of the chilly, but not too cold, California "winter" weather.

Here are some pictures of my favorites of these pieces :)

Start Of A New Journey

Well, this is something new for me. For the past couple of months I've wanted to start a blog, and keep it up, but I didn't know what to blog about. I've decided that I'll give it a shot, and hopefully it'll take me somewhere. Let me introduce myself, I am Hannah. I live in California, and as long as I have remembered I have wanted to live in California for my whole life, but recently I have just fallen in love with big cities, and life in New York, London, Paris, San Francisco- well any big city really. I just think the group of people, and opportunities that people receive when they are there is absolutely amazing. I think it would be awesome to be a publisher of a magazine, or a writer, or something in the fashion industry. I don't really know what I want to be when I am older, but I know I want to be something that I am able to use my talents on, and enjoy going to work every morning. Recently, I have been really into taking pictures of everything that I think is pretty and catches my eye, or just getting dressed up to take pictures of me and my friends with my mom's camera, I think it is so fun. I will be writing about my life, the oh-so-exciting life of a teenage girl in high-school, posting pictures that I take, the trips that I go on, recipes, and much more. It probably won't only be that, but we'll see when the time comes. I will try to post as much as possible during the week, but I am very busy with school as of the moment, but I will try my best. I hope you enjoy this blog as much as I do. :)

Until next time xoxo,
Hannah
